Macbeth/Revolt! is a work of physical theatre, devised by an ensemble of Italian and American theatre artists, that connects the essence of Shakespeare’s tragedy to echoes of our current times. The ensemble creates a visceral and poetic theatrical language that interweaves Shakespeare’s English verse with Italian translations, contemporary commentary, and bold visual imagery. The actors create a vital relationship to the audience as they multiply, morph, and conjure multiple facets of human nature. The “Scotland” of the play becomes the abstract terrain of the human heart as it confronts the enormity of war, fear, and brutality while love gets wasted by the lust for power. The “witches” inhabit the theatre with their dark humor and seemingly weave the threads of destiny. In truth, however, these supernatural beings only confirm that when we arrive at the crossroads of good and evil, we always have a choice.

Una creazione che va al cuore della tragedia shakespeariana i cui echi risuonano direttamente nell’attualità, creato da un ensemble di artisti italiani e americani, che va al cuore della tragedia di Shakespeare i cui echi risuonano nel presente. Attraverso il sorprendente linguaggio del teatro fisico e all’intreccio dell' inglese all' italiano nella lingua della poesia per la scena, lo spettacolo crea un rapporto vitale con il pubblico accogliendo le fantastiche possibilità di gioco offerte dal teatro di Shakespeare. I personaggi si moltiplicano e le loro metamorfosi portano in scena le molte sfaccettature dell’animo umano, e la Scozia della tragedia diventa il terreno astratto del cuore umano davanti all’enormità della guerra, della paura, dell’amore guastato dalla brama di potere. Mentre le figure soprannaturali, che abitano il teatro con il loro dark humour e sembrano tessere i fili del destino, rivelano che in verità c’è sempre una scelta davanti alle forze del male.

Walking Shadow Ensemble BIO

A collective of artists with decades of experience in the performing arts (from San Francisco, Chicago, and Santarcangelo, Italy) reunite around the project of an international production that transcends boundaries in a shared artistic vision. In August 2025, the Ensemble met in California for a long Artistic Residency at the Iron Triangle Theatre in Richmond, supported by the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts and numerous private donors. The first study for Macbeth Revolt! was presented at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley, CA. The Ensemble spent the month of December at Teatro Sociale Novafeltria (Italy) for a second Residency and to present the international premiere of the work that opened the theatre’s season.

Un collettivo di artiste e artisti di decennale esperienza nelle arti sceniche ( provenienti da San Francisco, Chicago, Santarcangelo) si riunisce attorno al progetto di una produzione internazionale, con il desiderio di aprirsi al confronto e all’incontro, per esercitare il superamento di confini mentali e culturali in una visione artistica comune. Nell'agosto del 2025 l’Ensemble si è riunito in California per una proficua Residenza Artistica all’ Iron Triangle Theatre di Richmond sostenuta dall’ East Bay Center for the Performing Arts e da numerosi donatori privati. Il primo studio di Macbeth Revolt! è stato presentato all’Aurora Theatre di Berkeley (CA). Si è poi riunito al Teatro Sociale Novafeltria per una seconda Residenza e per l'anteprima internazionale del lavoro che ha aperto la Stagione Teatrale 2025/26 “Del mio ultimo amore” a cura del Teatro Patalò.
